Out of Town

That is, we'll be away as of tomorrow (Sunday, September 12th), returning on Sunday the 19th.  Kids are back in school, temperatures are easing up at last, and Arkansas' 50+ state parks are beckoning.  We will be visiting Lake Fort Smith with its newly renovated camping areas (open after a prolonged period) and Withrow Springs, a park we visited in 2006, when the reopened trails were still raw and new.  It's within striking distance of War Eagle and Eureka Springs.  Finally, we'll stay at a private park near Mountain Home, hoping that on this trip we'll find the river in its banks (in contrast to our visit two years ago.)

It's too early for the Fall leaves, and we have chosen a week when the Razorbacks are playing elsewhere (no competition for camping spaces, no tailgate parties, no hordes of red-flagged vehicles racing up the highways.)  Should be peaceful!

I would be packing the camper right this minute, but it's pouring!  We are so far below our usual annual rainfall total (in addition to the punishing heat that has persisted all summer) that I can't complain about the storm.  We're expecting it to pass.

I hope to have some photos to share.
