View from the Window

Christmas is officially over--  the decorations are back in the trunk, the left-overs are eaten, the guest room is empty.  We are left to contemplate the progress--or the lack thereof--on our back yard uh, renovations.  Pictures are worth a thousand words, right?
The Eve of Destruction

Here we have the calm before the storm--the patio and pool deck as originally inherited-- acres of concrete (some in poor condition.)  Problems with the pool dictated a major undertaking:  tearing out the old and making way for the new.

Enormous backhoe begins breaking up concrete; pieces are loaded onto a Bobcat and trundled out to a dump truck to be hauled away.

You will just have to imagine the noise--  backhoe, Bobcat, two jack-hammers, and a certain amount of yelling when there were disagreements about how to proceed.

The mess is epic.

And the weather turned uncooperative.... snow....

....and then rain
                  ..........and holidays....
                           ...and more rain!!!

  1. Ooooooh, remodeling and landscaping! Been there and done that too many times. My heart goes out to you, knowing the mess and noise and commotion. It's always worth it, tho, when you can start seeing it come together again--better than when you started. Hang in there. :)

  2. Thanks for the encouraging words! I must say, I'm not altogether sure that my rising BP numbers are due to anything but the stress. We HOPE that once we live past New Year's Day, things will come together rapidly... Stay tuned!

  3. Are you doing the renovations yourself or are you having a crew do it for you???

  4. This work is being done by a concrete contractor who also builds/renovates pools. The contract has expanded as some unexpected problems emerged. Painful.....but hopefully it's been worth the aggravation and cost.
