Horace Greeley aside, our son Nathaniel has returned to the state where he was born in 1983. The 25 years since we moved away from California were important--growth and development, education and experience--and now Nat has taken the next big step in his career as a computer engineer. He's been hired by Amazon/Kindle to work at Lab 126 in Cupertino, where the next big thing is being designed and developed. He just completed his first week at work.
Nathaniel and Karen will be living in a rental house in Sunnyvale--not far from our house on Boise Court (near the intersection of Fremont and Hollenbeck.) While they wait for their move-in date, they are living in temporary quarters in Los Gatos and exploring the area.
This statue, entitled 'Out to Lunch,' sits outside the Sunnyvale Public Library and was a great favorite of the young Walizers on our frequent visits to the children's section. Nat no longer fits in the guy's lap. I had mentioned the library when the travelers stopped in Conway on their 5-day drive westward (with three cats!) Karen thoughtfully took this shot just for me.
We're thrilled to know Nathaniel is in a job that fits his abilities and talents, and we are happy for them as they settle into their new digs, new area, new lives.
Though you've already shared it over email, I really do love that picture. It's all so exciting!
