Is it best to work on One Thing At A Time?

Somehow, that just isn't my style.

Right now, I have two things going on in ye olde studio:

In the background we have my modified nine-patch blocks alternating with squares. As I finish the blocks, I just slap them up there.  It keeps me motivated.  Eventually I will have to decide on an arrangement that pleases me and begin the long job of joining all of these into a quilt top.

Meanwhile, back at the farm, (ha ha) I'm thinking ahead about the Round Robin being planned in the Calico Gardeners 'bee,' a group of quilters that has been meeting....gosh...a long time!  This batik of a rooster (purchased last Spring at the Conway Farmer's Market) is going to be part of my central block; after that, the block and my fabrics will be passed to several other quilters in succession; each will add a 'round' of new blocks.   To tell the truth, I've had a 'chicken quilt' rattling around in my head for years--and I've had the fabrics picked out and salted away in a storage box.  Suddenly, it has all come together.  Motive, means, and opportunity....  No, wait.  That's murder.  I'm just talking about a quilt, honest!  

Anyway-- I'm loving the homespun fabrics and the strong diagonals of the light squares.  (When these blocks are joined, only the center squares will be larger; the other neutral squares in each block will be the smaller size--3/4"--and each block will finish at 4.5".  So I need a lot of them.

Now back to the sewing room!
