This plant was a gift from our realtor back in Ohio (the one who sold our home with its 8 acres on the Chagrin River.) I thought it was kind of off-putting at first, but it has reliably set blooms year after year, and now it has grown on me.
I have no idea what kind of orchid this is. Anyone? Anyone?
Purple with speckles?
ReplyDeleteI like because they are so interesting.
ReplyDeleteI go every year to the orchid show at the NC arboretum, and I've seen a lot of exotic orchids. This particular one, however, I don't recall ever seeing. I'm sure you could probably post the picture on some orchid group's website, and they could tell you right away. I think it's absolutely wonderful. If you ever find out the name, let me know.
ReplyDeleteOur new word for the day: oncidium. A friend of a friend has identified this species for us. She mentions that some have fabulous scents; I have never detected a scent from this orchid, but I'll recheck...
